Hutchins School

It's really good when someone gets a great idea. Just imagine an Anglican school like Hutchins. A building starts to arise next door to them. Will it be a chemist? A post office? Or even a McDonalds? No, it is an aged-care facility. The Revd John Goodwin has an idea: that the students of Hutchins not only experience Christian faith within the four walls of St Thomas' Chapel, but develop relationships with the aged-care residents.

The community suffers from keeping different age groups apart. Because I have worked as a youth worker and am involved with ministry to the aged, John approached me to do this work. I am looking forward not only to working in the aged-care area, but also engaging with other community groups, so that we are aware of how a community is made up and possibly as a Christian school, how we can respond to people's needs.
