Jesus' birth pulls the crowd

A community carols event in the grounds of St George's Sorell was well attended on the evening of 8 December.

It was organised for the leaders of the churches in Sorell - with Andrew Lake heading up the organising committee. You will see Andrew singing on stage with the Clarence City band. Fusion were involved and did a great job with games for the children. The Sorell Primary school choir also participated.

The encouraging story behind this carol event was that Andrew and the committee focused the event on Jesus' birth and not Father Christmas. It was indeed encouraging to them that the families still came along in greater numbers this year even though Father Christmas was not going to be there.

Money raised in the sale of sausages by the Lions Club and glow sticks and coffee will go (after expenses) to the Sorell High School Chaplaincy.
