WhitSunday at Blackmans Bay
It was with joyful expectation that the congregation of St Peter's, Blackmans Bay greeted Bishop John on Whitsunday in May.
Many present wore red in keeping with the significance of the day. The Bishop had with him a red plastic bag which contained his 'show-and-tell item' - his mitre - and in his sermon he explained that the top of the mitre is red to signify the entry for the Holy Spirit. Bishop John also spoke of the precious gifts of the Holy Spirit: some people have the gift to teach; others to make music, or to become involved in pastoral care. Bishop John stressed the importance for all of us to contribute in the ministry of our Lord.
Morning tea in the vestibule after the service was happy and relaxed and one of our parishioner's canine friends greeted Bishop John with much enthusiasm.
We look forward to a future visit from Bishop John, perhaps when we celebrate our fortieth anniversary on October 27, 2008.
