Hutchins School winners Red Cross Winter Blood Challenge

Joint winners for the large organisation category in the Red Cross Winter Blood Challenge, students of The Hutchins School were quick to add that pride in the award was realised each week as they gave blood, knowing it would help support a life somewhere. School Chaplain Fr John Goodwin, who encourages the boys in their many community projects said, 'Our aim was to take four students each week, the youngest students being only 16 and showing great courage. Of course liking the milkshakes helped tremendously.'

three women priests cut celebration cake

Celebration of 15th Anniversary of ordination of women priests in Tasmania.

St Thomas' Day on 21 December 2007 was the 15th Anniversary of the ordination of women priests in the Diocese of Tasmania. Three of them, Revd Rosemary Perrot-Russell, Canon Honor Yearsley, and Revd Elvie Fraser celebrated the event at St James' Church, Ranelagh.

The night of celebration began with a full sung Eucharist, identical to the original ordination service. Rosemary, Honor and Elvie were supported by Revd Eric Cave representing Bishop Philip Newell, who was unable to attend, Revd Elizabeth Wells who acted as deacon, and Revd Meredith Campbell, Parish Priest of Franklin / Esperance.

Then followed a fine supper in true Anglican tradition in the beautifully restored parish hall.

Ulverstone Christmas Parade 'Angel in the Height'

At the annual Christmas Parade in Ulverstone the Rector was an 'Angel in the Height adoring Christ the Lord'. For the first time the Anglican Parish of Ulverstone had a stall in the Mardi Gras which follows the parade. In ANZAC Park, just across the road from the church, they had stilts (of a 'tamer' variety), bubbles, helium-filled 'Jesus All About Life Balloons', and other goodies. Christmas literature and Christmas service advertising were also distributed.
