Growing ministry in South Hobart

Good Friday Service in the Quiet Garden at All Saints. This ecumenical service begins with a walk between churches and through South Hobart.

South Hobart offers time and space to sit and ponder.

The Centre for Spiritual Reflection and Learning, within the Parish of All Saints, began in 2005 with a weekend called Celebrate! 2005.

Brother Nathan James, a brother of the Society of Saint Francis was part of the first two weekends, conducting workshops on making and using Anglican Prayer Beads and Franciscan Spirituality, and then leading a School of Prayer.

Bishop John Bayton, who has spent many years in Jerusalem and is a master iconographer, was our special guest at Celebrate! 2007 and looked at the New Testament in relation to his experience of the Holy Land.

The Centre is also offering a series of Quiet Days in 2008, continuing the valuable work over twenty years by The Deepings Ministry, providing spiritual space in people's lives.

Fr Christopher Newell conducted the first Quiet Day during Lent. Bishop Phillip Newell will conduct a Quiet Day for Pentecost on Saturday 17 May; and, later in the year, Quiet Days in August and December will be conducted by the Reverends John McRae and Rosalind Terry from the Uniting Church of Australia.

The ecumenical flavour is important for these days.

The ambience of the Quiet Garden at All Saints allows participants in our days to 'come apart and rest awhile'. The gardens are always open to anyone who would like to 'sit and ponder'.

The first Seminar in Spirituality and Mental Health, held in 2007, attracted over thirty professionals and consumers. It will be followed up by a second in the latter part of this year.

We value the opportunity to connect with others and share their spiritual journey through the ministry of our Centre for Spiritual Reflection and Learning.
