The Revd Canon Marshall Potter celebrates 50 years a priest

The Revd Canon (Emeritus) Marshall Potter celebrated 50 years a priest on St Matthias' Day, Sunday 24 February, 2008 at St Aidan's Church, Lindisfarne.

He writes, 'On Saint Matthias' Day, 24 February, 1958, after seven long years of part-time study, twelve months as stipendary lay-reader, a further twelve months as deacon, I finally knelt in St David's Cathedral to receive the "laying-on-
of-hands" by the Bishop Geoffrey Cranswick and priests present "for the office and work of a Priest in the Church of God."

'It was Shrove Tuesday, when at 8am, at St Aidan's I robed in vestments made by a parishioner and celebrated Holy Communion for the first time. Present were my parents, younger brother, my wife Beatrice and our three little girls, and about thirty parishioners, two of whom are here today, fifty years on.'


Girls Brigade leaders in Tanzania

In November 2007 Girls' Brigade Australia farewelled eight young leaders from around the country as they left for four weeks working with Girls Brigade in Tanzania.

Alison Margettes is the Tasmanian State Chaplain for Girls Brigade and can be seen at the front R (pink skirt). She belongs to the 3rd Hobart Brigade and assists at 4th Hobart which meets at Rokeby Anglican Church.


Cursillo National Secretariat 2008

Thirty-three delegates from dioceses from all states of the country attended the recent meeting at Bendigo.
