¡Feliz Navidad!
Christmas fundraising project
Adrian Nickols, of Wellspring Anglican in Sandy Bay, is currently serving on a short-term mission placement in Cochabamba, Bolivia.
He left for Bolivia in April 2008, and will return home in March 2009, having served in Bolivia, studied Spanish in Peru and travelled through Europe. During his time with IOU Bolivia Orphanage Ministry and through his current role with Bolivia Children´s Mission, Adrian has seen first-hand the needs of orphaned and abandoned children in Bolivia.
Adrian says that ‘When orphanages rely on donations to survive, it is difficult to put a gift under the Christmas tree for each child, buying for them basic necessities.’
In November, Adrian launched Navidad En Bolivia, a Christmas fundraising project which seeks to deliver life-giving gifts to 50 children in three Bolivian orphanages. Through Navidad En Bolivia, we can support our brother serving in Bolivia and directly help a Bolivian child.
One-of Christmas sponsorships have been made available, to support the children. In participating, you can choose from a list of sponsorships to provide a Christmas present for one of the children, or assist in providing clothes, shoes, school materials, additional tuition, or an eye test.
Sponsorships range between $16 and $130. Sponsors will receive a Christmas card to give to a loved one, containing a picture and a brief profile of the child that will receive support, and raising awareness of the needs existing in Bolivia. All sponsors are encouraged to submit a short message to be translated into Spanish and given to the child with their special Christmas gift.
