Crossing culture
Overseas students washing cars in St Helens as part of their cross-cultural experience.

A team of five students from Worldview Centre for Intercultural Studies (formerly WEC MTC) joined the St Helens Anglican community for two weeks in August/ September. This intensive time of ministry helps students to trust God in new situations, explore their gifts, work in a team and test theory in real life.
They participated in a variety of activities in conjunction with other Christians in St Helens, for example Sunday services, children’s ministry, craft group, naval cadets, prayer meetings, street evangelism.
You can imagine that, for the overseas students on the team, living in St Helens was a real cross cultural experience. We on the other hand loved the food cooked up on the Asian Food nights.
They sculptured balloons for the open air market and helped naval cadets wash cars all in an effort to witness to the person of Jesus Christ. They may be back studying now, but they had a taste of what God is doing in St Helens and we made some lovely new friends.
