New centre for spirituality and the environment
It's a bold dream, to develop the 1960's A'Beckett Park school camp site on Raymond Island in the Gippsland Lakes into a Centre for Spirituality and the Environment.
After an extended period of prayer and discernment, the Diocese of Gippsland is taking the first steps with the development of a small residential community and the appointment of a Spiritual Leader.
In May 2007 the new vision was enthusiastically endorsed for '...an International Christian residential centre for spirituality and the environment; a place of pilgrimage, reflection, healing, learning and recreation. ...an icon of the church's commitment to and rationale for the care of God's creation.'
In May 2009, it is envisaged that the first steps of this vision will be realised with the development of a small residential community given to prayer, reflection and to the development of the Centre for Spirituality and the Environment on the Gippsland Lakes.
