Christmas Scene Investigation - the CD! Photo Paul Chew
A bright idea for schools!
Bruce Geeves asks: What happens when you can’t find a resource to suit the ministry you have with kids?
Paul Chew says: Make it yourself! Here's how.
Albuera St Primary school has a lunchtime group that meets for half an hour a week. It is opt-in – parents must give permission.
I had a team of five volunteers with varying degrees of teaching experience (or none!) and found that the group had already been started, having taken over from the previous ‘compulsory RE’ sessions.
The 10-week program linked with regular classroom teaching. Schools are jam-packed with activity so it was a struggle to maintain the attention of che students.
We tried to make the most of kids’ excitement about Christmas and decided to make our own video of the Christmas Story. In a video called CSI (Christmas Scene Investigation) two of us were investigators trying to find our what Christmas was all about.
It was very exciting! We had more than 50 children involved, all really keen to see themselves and their friends in a movie. And not only that – 33 kids turned up to Scripture class in the next weeks!
The exercise was very exciting and all the kids had a CD to take home to share the story.
