How do we press on in faith in the Lord when things fall apart around us? More importantly, rather than just ‘soldiering on’ stoically, how do we persevere with joy?

This was the question explored in some depth at this year’s northern version of the Tasmanian Bible Forum (contact Riverlinks Parish for details), held at Ulverstone on the 13th of June.

On a grey and chilly Ulverstone morning, 22 participants gathered for Tasmanian Bible Forum, 2009. The Bishop of Armidale, the Rt Revd Dr Peter Brain, presented three sessions on the topic ‘Persevering with Joy’. (Pictured R.)

Bishop Peter has some expertise in this area, having completed a Doctorate in clergy self-care. He is also an experienced and captivating Bible teacher, and so the participants were really treated to some very helpful insights and learning.

Some of the participants used the Forum to count as one of the units towards their Certificate of Ministry and Theology (again, contact Riverlinks for details), while others just came along for a stimulating and challenging – as well as rewarding and worthwhile – series of three talks, focussing on instruction from Romans, Hebrews and 2 Peter. Bishop Peter also had some of his books and articles for sale.

The talks were recorded, and the whole session was repeated in the South, at Sorell Parish on the following Saturday.

Copies of the tapes, along with the notes from the Forum, are available through – you guessed it! – Riverlinks Parish.
