Well done!

The Revd Cyril Dann received an Order of Australia Medal in the Queen’s Honours list in June this year.

This was awarded in recognition of his many years of service to community organisations including the Scouting and Guiding Associations, Rotary, St John’s Ambulance Association, the RSL as well as the Diocese and Chaplaincy.

For twenty years Cyril has spent most of his days at either the Royal Hobart Hospital, or at one of several aged care facilities for which he provides pastoral care – all in a voluntary capacity.

Cyril is in the Chaplaincy Department by 8.30am ready to take part in the Morning Prayer Office. Daily we pray for the work of staff, patients and their families as well as for the wider church and community.

Among those for whom we pray every day are the names of patients listed in the Hospital Chapel by family or friends. Last year we prayed for over 2000 people. Many of these were also visited by chaplains.

Cyril is there most days in the year and also takes his turn on the On Call after hours roster.

Well done, Cyril – Thanks!

Executive Officer, Anglican Chaplaincy Tasmania
