Anglican Women's Retreat
Celebrating 80 years
The Anglican Women’s Retreat will be held at Mary Knoll, Blackmans Bay from Friday 16 – Sunday 18 October.
2009 marks the 80th continuous year of retreats for women in the Diocese of Tasmania. The Retreat Conductor will be Sr Linda Mary CSC and the theme will be ‘Gift and Celebration’.
Sr Linda Mary was made Leader/Mother Superior of the Community of the Sisters of the Church on 13 July, the third Australian to be chosen for this role, but the first in the 139 year history of the Community not to reside in England.
A trained teacher, she was ordained priest in December 1993. She has served in various houses of the Community since 1972 and has been Provincial in Australia since 1999. The Community has strong links with Hobart where the Sisters founded St Michael’s Collegiate School, and many Tasmanians are Associates of the Community.
For anyone who has not experienced a retreat, it is a great opportunity to spend some time away from the busyness of our daily lives and allow ourselves to open our hearts to God in the beautiful surroundings of Mary Knoll in Blackmans Bay. Great food, places to walk, sit and look at the view, or listen to the many birds in the lovely gardens; time to reflect or to rest.
YES it IS OK if you want to sleep away an afternoon!
All this is interspersed with a series of reflections, daily Eucharist and Morning and Evening Prayer and opportunity for an individual chat with Sr Linda Mary if you so wish.
The retreat commences on Friday evening and ends after the Eucharist on Sunday afternoon.
Cost $180 (includes all meals)
