Anglicare news - Take the worry out of Christmas

The saddest time of the year
Anglicare is bracing itself for increased demand for our emergency relief services in the lead up to Christmas this year.
Our services are seeing more clients who are going without meals on a regular basis so that they can pay their rent and basic living costs or to get medicines.
It is very difficult to function on a day-to-day basis if you are worrying about getting enough food. For lots of Tasmanians the thought of Christmas approaching feels them with a sense of dread.
Christmas is the saddest time of year for many of our clients.
Many of them are under considerable financial stress and are worried about having food on the table at all, let alone having to provide a special Christmas meal.
And, whilst they would like to be able to give presents, many people who come to us for support don’t have anyone to give presents to.
A large majority of our clients have experienced family breakdown – many people won’t be spending Christmas Day with their children and many parents faced with increased costs cannot afford to buy gifts to give their children.
Anglicare is asking Tasmanians to consider making a donation to Anglicare this year. During the Christmas period the donations we receive will ensure our clients will have food in their cupboards so hopefully they can enjoy Christmas this year.
Credit card donations can be made by phoning 1800 243 232 or 6213 3555. Donations can also be mailed to GPO Box 1620, Hobart, Tasmania 7000.
