Introducing Andy!

We are delighted to report that ‘The Imagine Project – Launceston’ commenced on the 1st of April 2010.

Andy Goodacre and his wife Liz, daughter Olivia (with one on the way) have moved from Geelong Victoria, to Tasmania where Andy has taken on the Team Leader role for the Imagine Project in Launceston.

Andy has been involved in Student and Parish ministries in the UK and Germany and more recently has been the Assistant Minister at St Matthew’s Anglican Church in Geelong. Andy brings a wealth of experience to this position as well as an understanding of student life as he works to complete his Masters in Global Leadership at the Fuller Theological Seminary in the USA.

The development of a post-University network of Christian Workers

The aim of The Imagine Project – Launceston is to train students so that after three or so years with the Imagine Project team a new graduate would begin a ministry in their new home town which would continue even if they move on in their career.

The university ministry has considerable support already. St Barnabas in North Launceston is a visionary parish located adjacent to the University campus. This dedicated and welcoming parish has provided support and assistance to encourage the growth of the University Project. A major renovation has almost been completed providing great facilities for worship, training and other activities. University students have already become involved in leadership development and mission training, and a network of leaders within the Launceston area has been established to support Andy as he takes on the University ministry.

We look forward to bringing you stories from out in the field as Andy becomes further involved in the provision of Christian leadership development as well as building relationships with rural, regional and isolated communities in Tasmania.
