UFOs in Sorell
Chatting over their UFOs
For several months now Anglican women from Sorell, Midway Point and surrounding areas have been enjoying a Friendship Afternoon at the St George's Church Hall from 12.00 noon until 3.00 pm on Wednesdays.
The Afternoon arose out of a need for women to meet somewhere for a chat over a cup of tea and a sandwich whilst doing some kind of craft or handiwork.
The women chatted about the UFOs (Unfinished Objects) in their cupboards and thought it would be a good idea to bring them along. With the encouragement of each other most UFOs were completed in the following months.
Some UFOs were over 20 years old!
The objects were so numerous and so diverse it was decided to exhibit them at the end of the year.
Apart from this, the women decided to set aside time on one Wednesday afternoon in the month to creating crafts and handiwork to sell for charity. On 12 November the exhibition was held - it was a great success and over $700.00 was raised towards the ABC Giving Tree.
The afternoon is open to all women of any denomination and we are encouraging more women to join us.
