Prayer tree
Sharing prayer
Bev and Don Blizzard from the West Tamar Parish are fully paid up members of the ‘Go North Young Man' club.
On returning last Christmas from the heat of the north they called in at an Anglican church at Port Augusta, where they were given a Christmas card with a request to write a prayer in it and to leave it on the Christmas tree in the church.
Bev and Don brought the idea back to All Saints at Exeter and we parishioners were very happy to write our prayers on cards and to place them on the tree. No names, but prayers.
The cards were decorated with scenes from the birth of Jesus and were tied on with rainbow-coloured ribbon. We were given a week or so to think about our prayers and like one prayer said, ‘Time to think, to play, to laugh and to pray'.
All positive prayers and like all God's children expressed individually. Some were printed; some decorated; some drawn. Some were succinct; some not, but all were inclusive and accepting of love. We will share them and keep them for next Christmas and then add to them.
